Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce destructive winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones over the next several hours in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Toowoomba, Dalby, Kingaroy, Stanthorpe and Goondiwindi. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West and Maranoa and Warrego districts. Locations which may be affected include Roma, Hughenden, Richmond and Carnarvon National Park. 8-10cm hail was reported to the north of Pittsworth (near Toowoomba) at 5:30pm. Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
