For people in parts of the Somerset, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay Council Areas. Issued at 8:04 am Wednesday, 1 April 2015. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:55 am, two separate bands of heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms were affecting southeast Queensland, one band extends through the northern suburbs of Brisbane, while the other is moving onto the southern Sunshine Coast area, extending into the adjacent hinterland. These storms are likely to produce prolonged periods of heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
