For people in the LOGAN CITY, REDLAND CITY, CHERBOURG SHIRE and parts of the BRISBANE CITY, GOLD COAST CITY, GYMPIE, IPSWICH CITY, SCENIC RIM, SOUTH BURNETT and North Stradbroke Island Council Areas. Issued at 3:39 pm Friday, 2 May 2014. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:45 pm, very dangerous thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Ipswich and Amberley. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. Very dangerous thunderstorms are forecast to affect Redbank Plains and Wacol by 4:15 pm and Logan City, Slacks Creek and Tingalpa Reservoir by 4:45 pm. Other severe thunderstorms were located near Jimboomba and Greenbank. They are forecast to affect Beenleigh, Coomera and Logan Village by 4:15 pm and the area northeast of Kingaroy, Murgon and Cherbourg by 4:45 pm. Destructive winds are likely. Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
