QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Damaging Winds | | Source: Bureau of Meteorology
For people in the Southeast Coast Forecast District. Issued at 7:47 pm Saturday, 28 June 2014. A line of strong thunderstorms is currently moving eastwards at about 60 km/h across the far eastern Darling Downs into the Southeast Coast district. A few embedded cells within this line may become severe and be capable of producing damaging wind gusts in the warning area over the next several hours. More detailed severe thunderstorm warnings will be issued if severe cells develop within the line of storms. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Brisbane, Coolangatta, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and islands, Boonah, Gatton, Beenleigh, Caboolture and Crows Nest. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
