Southeast QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Damaging Winds

For people in the IPSWICH CITY, SCENIC RIM and parts of the BRISBANE CITY, GOLD COAST CITY, LOCKYER VALLEY, LOGAN CITY and SOMERSET Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:25 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Mount Barney, Maroon Dam and the area south of Helidon. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Laidley, Laravale, Kooralbyn and Mulgowie by 2:55 pm and Beaudesert, Grandchester, Amberley and Rosewood by 3:25 pm.

Damaging winds are likely.

Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
