Queensland federal MP Michael Johnson will front a meeting of the LNP state executive this morning over his alleged business dealings.
Mr Johnson, the MP for the seat of Ryan in Brisbane, has denied accusations he tried to broker an agreement between a Chinese conglomerate and a Queensland coal company to collect a $12 million commission.
He's also blamed his own party for leaking material to the media before he had a chance to explain his actions to Liberal National Party heavyweights.
He faces penalties including possible expulsion if the LNP executive does not accept his explanations.
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott, in Brisbane yesterday, declined the opportunity to back Mr Johnson.
"That's a matter for the LNP in Queensland, and I'm confident they will handle it appropriately. Matters of candidature are matters for the LNP," he said, refusing to comment further," Mr Abbott said.

COMMENT: Will the LNP State Executive have the testicular fortitude to dump
Michael Johnson, who has become an on-going political liability for them.
Mr Johnson acts for Mr Johnson only. When given proper issues to solve he simply walks away.
ReplyDeleteI personally took a complaint to him about a Gov. department and when it was proven that this department had lied directly to him in writing, he did nothing and would not return calls or letters. refused to help. I personally would like to run against him in the next election, as he is only lining his own pockets.
