The Australian Medical Association (AMA) says that the release of confidential fiscal records of some South Australian physicians and dentists will inescapably result in scams.
The AMA says that Medical Finance Company, Medfin accidentally sent out the information in an email to its state members.
AMA South Australian President, Andrew Lavender deems that identity theft is a probable outcome of the bungle.
He said that whilst they are unaware of any specific endeavors to dupe as yet, he believes that that's unavoidable and that they would be very worried regarding that and apparently wish to ensure that the condition is safe as early as possible.
He said that as they would presume that the organization is undertaking all attempts to protect the accounts, he feels that there's a lot of data out there and there will be a number of people all set to misuse that information.
Medfin CEO, Callum Davidson says that the error was because of human mistake and the company takes full liability for what took place.
He said, "We've taken immediate steps to enhance our security measures around customer identification and I can ensure all clients that ... in the unlikely event that there were a loss as a result of this incident, they would not be responsible for that, we would be responsible for that".
