The Queensland Government will release its first response to tackling population growth this week - more than seven weeks after the Queensland Population Growth Management Summit in Brisbane.
A regional home owners incentives scheme and more detailed planning guidelines in regional Queensland cities are two strategies expected to be detailed in a six-stage approach to controlling rapid population growth.
New government planning for fast-growing urban areas in Mackay, Gladstone and Townsville were all flagged by Premier Anna Bligh on the final day of the two-day seminar in March.
Premier Bligh also foreshadowed a new regionalisation strategy.
"One of the clearest messages for me was an acceptance that regionalisation has to be a central part of our considerations," Ms Bligh said.
State Parliament's next sitting week begins on June 8, Queensland Budget day.
It is expected the population growth response will be released in stages leading up to the Queensland Budget.
At the end of the growth summit, Premier Bligh had promised to have the Government's first response ready within six weeks.
However sources last night said the Government was prepared to let the State Opposition's political woes dominate State Parliament last week.
Complaints from LNP MPs turned independents Aidan McLindon and Rob Messenger dominated state politics, while the LNP was forced to sack Federal LNP MP Michael Johnston on Friday.
Brisbane councillor Nicole Johnson resigned from the LNP on Thursday, ahead of being called before the LNP's state executive on Friday, where she was also tipped to be sacked from the party.
