Southeast QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Large Hail, Damaging Winds

For people in the IPSWICH CITY and parts of the BRISBANE CITY, LOCKYER VALLEY, SOUTHERN DOWNS, SCENIC RIM and SOMERSET Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:00 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Oakington and Rosevale. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north. They are forecast to affect Maryvale, Cunninghams Gap and Rosevale by 3:30 pm and Grandchester, Rosewood and Hatton Vale by 4:00 pm.

Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.

Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
