Southeast QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Heavy Rain

For people in the Logan, Redland, Brisbane City and parts of the Ipswich, Gold Coast and Moreton Bay Council Areas.

Issued at 1:39 pm Saturday, 21 March 2015.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 1:45 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Beenleigh and Logan City. They are forecast to affect Cleveland, Dunwich and Peel Island by 2:15 pm and Brisbane CBD, Brisbane Airport and Mud Island by 2:45 pm.

Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is likely.

48mm of rain has been reported at Logan Village in the hour to 1.20pm

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
